A thermostat is a device that directly or indirectly controls one or more heat sources and cold source to maintain the required temperature. To achieve this function, the thermostat must have a sensitive element and a converter, the sensitive element measures the temperature change and produces the desired effect on the converter.
The converter converts the function of a sensitive element into an appropriate control for a device that alters the temperature. The most commonly used principle of temperature change is (1) the expansion rate of the two different metals (bimetallic sheets) is different. (2) The expansion of two different metals (rods and tubes) is different, (3) The expansion of the liquid (sealed film box with external temperature bubble, sealed bellows with or without external thermometer);(4) Liquid-vapor system (Saturation vapor pressure of pressure film box, (5) thermistor element.
The most commonly used converters are (1) switching switches on or off the circuit, (2) a potentiometer driven by a sensitive element, (3) an electronic amplifier, and (4) a pneumatic actuator. The most common use of thermostat is to control room temperature.
Typical uses include: control gas valve, control fuel furnace regulator, control electric heating regulator, control refrigeration compressor, control gate regulator.
Room temperature regulators can be used to provide a variety of control functions, such as heating control, heating---cooling control, day and night control (night control at lower temperature), multistage control, can be a level or multistage heating, first or multi-stage cooling, or multistage heating and cooling combination control.
The type of thermostat is generally as follows: the inserted---Thermostat is mounted on the pipe and the sensitive element is plugged into the pipe; the immersed---sensitive element is immersed in the liquid of the pipe or container to control the liquid, and the surface---the sensitive element is mounted on the surface of the pipe or similar surface.
